Paul Barrell
aka "Strongbow"
Paul was known by his friends as strongbow (from our CB radio days,). He was a funny and very loving guy, everyone knew him and he has always held a very special place in my heart, a day does not go past when I dont think of you. Your picture still sits on my shelf and although you never met my hubby or my children they know who you are and what you meant and mean to me.
Paul was just 21 when he died in a motorbike accident, I found it very hard to deal with as did his mum and dad and his sister Julie, the rest of his family and his close friends, it was such a huge shock to us all .
All his friends got together tho and we were determined to give Paul a big send off, someone with such a big heart deserved that.
We all got together at Reigate Hill. (a place where we all spent a lot of time talking and being on the cb) on the morning of his funeral and with police escort all his friends on motorbikes, in cars and not forgetting the bus!
I dont know how many of us where there that day, Aidy, Sean, Mark, Pete (Nutty boy), Anne and Matty,Steve and Barb, Fugley, The May brothers, Glenn (Roadrunner), Tim (Mad one),Mick (DMV), Pete (Pugwash) and Esther (california girl),Mick (Dodgeman), Tracey (troggles) just to name a handfull and we all travelled what we all believed to be Pauls last ride from Reigate Hill towards his home in Horley Surrey.
On route we stopped at the place of the accident on the A23 and all laid flowers and a tribute in the shape of a coke can at the site before we carried on to meet the procession at his mum and dads house,
We then followed Paul thro Horley town center past the Post Office where he worked and onwards to the crem at Crawley,
That place was packed, !!!
He was loved by all,
(if you click on the pictures, they come up better x )
I remember everything about you,
your voice, your smile, your touch,
the way you walked, the way you talked,
the way you looked at me, meant so much.
I remember all the words you said to me,
some funny, some kind, some wise,
all of the things you did for me,
I see now with different eyes.
I remember every moment we shared,
seems like only yesterday,
or maybe it was eons ago,
It's really hard to say.
You are gone from me now,
but one thing they can't take away,
your memory resides inside my heart,
and lights up my darkest days.
I wish Heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again.I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All i have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which i'll never part. God has you in his arms.. I have you in my heart.
I know I am still with you
in your prayers, your thoughts, your heart
And though you cannot see me,
I will always be a part
of life's sweet celebrations
in those times when you reflect
on how, though things are different,
through our love, we still connect.
We'll see each other someday
when our spirits all are free,
until then, I am with you
because you remember me.

15 years later.
It seems like only last week, your big smile was knocking at the door, you bundling in with your pack of coke and Jo calmly following, you used to cheer up everyone around you, A life time has passed we are all grown up, I wonder what you would have been like now, would you still have all the hair? I think so. I bet that big cheeky grin melts hearts of all the angels.
My thaughts are with your family at this time.
with special memories always in our hearts,
Barb and Steve

Paul was a great friend of mine and I spent most nights on the CB at the top of reigate hill with him. I'll never forget what a great person he was and he will always be sorely missed by those who knew him.
Paul, I wish that u could have spent more time with you, I was just 16 when we met but you made such a big impact on my life, you will always be in my heart, thinking of you now just makes me smile, remembering the fun times we had back then, you were definitly taken too soon. every year I still go up to Reigate Hill to share a coke with you and sit on your bench,(shame Keiths not still there tho or id have a bacon butty too). I will never forget about you. You will always be very special to me , It has got easier over the years, but you will NEVER be forgotten,
